Chelsea Launch Football Channel on YouTube

Chelsea Football Club today launched a football branded Channel on YouTube, a first on the site.

The Channel, (, will include Chelsea FC content, daily news and archive video footage as well as other innovative content including feedback and contributions from fans.  Additionally, a few lucky fans will have a chance to be featured on Chelsea TV (CTV).

Chelsea Chief Executive Peter Kenyon said: "We are delighted to work with YouTube. Chelsea is the first football club to move into what is clearly one of the fastest growing new media platforms."

"This will allow us to offer our fans exciting Chelsea FC content in a very unique way, as well as an opportunity to reach a whole new audience."

Champions League Progress

Chelsea will play Porto in a Champions League knockout tie.

mourinho_e On hearing the draw that will take his Chelsea side back to the club he made European Champions in 2004, Mourinho said:

"A draw is a draw and especially in the last 16 of the Champions League you know a good team is coming your way. Porto is a team with tradition in European football and is a team with ambition so they deserve respect from us and they will have it.

"Do we want to go to the quarter-final?'", he asked. "Of course. Are we confident? 100 per cent. But I repeat only a good Chelsea playing at a high level will do it. It is two months to the first leg so it is time to forget the Champions League and concentrate on domestic competitions."

Having tried a succession of foreign coaches to take Mourinho's place since his departure, Porto are back in Portuguese hands with Jesualdo Ferreira appointed in August. The experienced coach is a former assistant manager of the Portuguese national side and has also been in charge of the Under 21s.

Porto currently stand five points clear at the top of their domestic league.

Giles Smith's Midweek View

Here is Giles Smith's midweek view. Great stuff!

Overall, I thought Sir Alex Ferguson hid his disappointment about Sunday's result pretty well.

Of course, the Manchester United manager has had quite a lot of disappointment to hide of late, so he ought to be getting good at it.

And indeed, in Sunday's post-match performance you really saw the practice he has put in over the last few seasons beginning to pay dividends.

Ignoring the fact that his team had spent 98 percent of the second period unable to get out of their own half and had crawled from the field relieved to come away with a point, Ferguson instead commended his players for not allowing Chelsea to 'disrupt the flow of the game' with fouling.

This was classic, cut out n' keep, post-match Fergie - brilliantly monocular, fabulously combative, and bearing about as much relation to  the reality of matters as Harry Potter's Hogwarts does to your local primary.

You've got to love the little chap, haven't you? Harry Potter, I mean.

Quiz time: which team committed the most fouls on Sunday? I'll give you a clue: it wasn't Chelsea.

Chelsea qualifies for Champions League knockout stage!

Chelsea qualified for the Champions League knockout stage despite defeat against Werder Bremen - but have injury concerns over top scorer Didier Drogba.

Bremen now just need a draw in Barcelona in their final group game to go through to the last 16.

Chelsea have qualified as they cannot finish below Bremen in the table because they have the better head-to-head record in the group games between the two sides.

Mourinho plays down Drogba injury concern

Jose Mourinho says Didier Drogba will be fit to face Manchester United despite picking up an ankle injury in Chelsea's 1-0 defeat to Werder Bremen.
