2010 matches v Liverpool Supporters Club Vancouver

We have some confirmed dates and venues for matches against our Liverpool counterparts this spring/summer. At stake: the Vancouver Champions League, complete with cup with big ears that those lovable Scallies made off with last time. No police involved this time...

Game 1: Saturday, May 29: @ UBC Thunderbird Park, off Wesbrook Mall. Kick-off 3:00 PM.

This is our “away” leg. There is parking beside the Allan McGavin Sports Centre. See link for directions:

Game 2: Saturday, June 26 @ Point Grey Secondary School, just beside Arbutus/W 37th. kick-off 2:00 PM.

With any luck, England will have won their second-stage World Cup game that morning, so we should all be in the right mood for a game. See link for directions:

Please note both of these games are on artificial turf fields.  Cost will be $10 per players per game, to over pitch hire, referee and insurance. Any surplus will go into Gerry's post-match beer fund. Each time we've had a good turnout, we've had the better of the Scousers, but when numbers are slim we get beaten. Everyone welcome to play, so any players interested please contact Mat Loup @ This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. so we can keep track of numbers.

So let's go for a win double this time, and claim the trophy!

Portsmouth vs Chelsea Live at the Frog and Firkin

The game is on live at the Frog and Firkin at 12.45 p.m. Wednesday 24th.

Otherwise catch it on Setanta tape delay at 2.45 p.m.

Blackburn vs Chelsea tape delay Sunday 12 Noon at the Frog and Firkin

We are not on live TV on Sunday, however the Frog and Firkin is showing the match at 12:00 noon. Chelsea, beer and Sunday lunch at the pub - very tempting.  Otherwise you'll have to wait until 11:45p.m. Monday on Setanta, or often flaky coverage on the 'net.

Try to get there if you can, and if you're going, try not to hear/see the score, and please don't let on to others if you know it.

C'mon you Blues!

Vancouver Venue for Chelsea-Man Utd, 08 Nov 09

The Calling Public House will be open at 08h00 Pacific for the showdown at the Bridge.

Location: 1780 Davie Street @ Denman

A Blue Day in the Emerald City

Well that was a great weekend in Seattle!

The Friday night at Fado's was quite the party. Saturday morning felt like London before a game and the atmosphere at the stadium was excellent.

We played well in the first half, showing some classy touches with two well worked goals. The second half was less impressive, with many changes and a second-string attack.

It was wonderful to see so many blue shirts in the crowd. I'd guess about 20% of the 65,000 crowd and our 100 or so Vancouver section made quite an impact too.

I think we were all very impressed with the set-up at the Sounders club, and with their fans. It felt "real" rather than the over-hyped "showbiz" stuff that the States has had for footy in the past. I think the Whitecaps have a great model in Seattle to learn from.

Who knows, one day we might see our beloved Blues in Vancouver again (yes, Chelsea did visit in the early 1990s).

Here are some photos, including Alistair Browne, my kids and yours' truly meeting the players on Saturday night. I am still coming-down after meeting Frank Lampard, John Terry and Ashley Cole. They took time to chat with us and made an effort for the kids to be photographed with them.

Thank you to all the Vancouver Chelsea fans who made the trip.
