Globe and Mail Covers Chelsea/Man Utd Supporters Match

Chelsea Vancouver 2 - Man United Vancouver 3

We was robbed!  Just as our senior team was mugged in the midnight-in-Moscow injustice, our supporters' team was robbed on the West Side.

A thrilling comeback from 0-2 down to 2-2 was about to become 3-2 to the Blues when an off-side call, more suited to Old Trafford refereeing, let them escape.  They sneaked a goal at the end, before the referee cut the game short with his infamous Alex Ferguson watch.

Much credit goes to the Blues for a good show against a Man United team that turned up in their pub sponsor's kit, looking more like Juventus than Junited. Turns out they play each week, which was very unsporting of them. Jason had another dominating display at the centre of defence, where Jeff also had a really good game, but Man-of-the-Match has to be Tim who scored both our goals and was the victim of the 'orrible off-side call that would have levelled the match.

Thanks again to Mat Loup for arranging the game and playing through a back injury and to Dave Elvin for playing in goal - we missed his heading power at corners, and to our supporters Andrew Whitaker and Luca!

Our next game is against Liverpool on July 5th at the same venue Point Grey secondary school Astroturf, on Arbutus and 37th. If you want to play then please contact us. We could do with a few more players - particularly someone who plays in goal regularly.
